Due before class on Feb 24th.
I don't think this was my best essay at all. I can't say that it really helped or didn't help. However, I do think our class discussions cleared up many of the concerns I had. An example would be when Kimberly spoke up about how she didn't feel comfortable. I don't think many of us do, but it's nice to know I'm not alone. I think for phase two I just need to focus more and try to execute my sources better within the paper.
ReplyDeletePhase one helped in writing my essay. I have never broken down writing this way and the work sheets helped with putting things together. Though I did not find the Research Project Phase One sheet relevant to my grade, it did put the purpose of my paper in writing, something I wouldn't normally do. The blogs were all together annoying. Why? Because, how could I do the blog without having at least started writing the paper? Granted in an ideal world I would have written the paper by then, but I fell behind the power curve on this one. Shame on me! Breaking down this paper the way it was broken down does make it easier to write. Though I did find things to gripe about, the process helped immensely.
ReplyDeleteI found this phase challenging because it felt like only part of a paper. For some reason I found it difficult to focus on just two sources and my thoughts on writing this were never linear enough for me to feel I had a firm grasp on what I was writing. I feel like there is a lot of information that we read on our own and then we have class discussions but I don't feel like the two things are ever connected. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteThe phase one research paper was probably one of the more challenging tasks I had so far in my college curriculum. None of the challenge stemmed directly from the paper itself, rather, it came from trying to get everything done in the time allotted. This phase saw copious amounts of reading, not just from assigned works, but from the need to research actual sources a well. Even skimming through most sources the desire to use the best sources was ever present. Allowing just two sources really propelled me to find the two that worked together best with my thesis.
ReplyDeleteThe paper itself suffered from my own zeal. The first draft had close to 1500 words. In a sense this is good, the freedom to talk about a subject I was passionate about guarantees as the class progresses future papers will be easy to write. The downside of course meant that a good amount of editing time was used boiling the paper down to its core essence. In the end I wish I had just had more time during phase one, even if it meant at the expense of later phases. Now that it is done though, I feel confident that I have found my subject and that the class will progress more smoothly from here on out.
I think that this phase wasnt aas easy as i thought it was but it was interesting to research for mytopic. I actually enjoyed writing the paper and putting my thoughts into an issue that mattered to me. I hope throughout this next phase I can focus in more and become more concise in my writing. Maybe an example of phase teo would be helpful for me for the next phase. I was a little bit difficult for me to narrow down my thesis.
